IPX-Diagnostics for Windows
**************************************************************************
DESCRIPTION :
IPX-Diagnostics for Windows is a Shareware-Program to scan the
entire network for connected nodes and to show the internal
statistics of these nodes provided by IPX/SPX and the installed
NIC. It uses only IPX for searching nodes, what means that all
attached nodes appear in the node list, even File-Servers,
Print-Servers and workstations which are not logged in. The
program also performs a Ping-Test between the selected node and
the own workstation.
INTRODUCTION :
After starting the program you have to scan the network first.
Click 'Scan' in the menu or press 'ALT-S'. The node list will
be filled with the found nodes. Now you can select a node by
using the mouse or the cursor keys. After selecting a node the
'Basic Information' screen will be filled and enabled. Now you
can enter a name and location for the selected node or switch
to other Information-screens by clicking with the mouse on the
labels right or pressing 'ALT-x', where x means the number of
the screen. If you have problems, please refer to the INI-File
first.
ADDITIONEL FILES NEEDED :
You also need NWIPXSPX.DLL from Novell to run the program. This
file is included here. Look for new versions on NETWIRE in
TOP_DOWNLOADS, file WINUPx.EXE.
IPX-Diagnostics require that the workstation be setup as a
NetWare-Client, so you have to load IPX.COM or IPXODI.COM
before starting Windows. The following lines should be
included in the SYSTEM.INI file to properly load network
components for Windows :
[386Enh]
network=*vnetbios,vipx.386,vnetware.386
[boot]
network.drv=vnetware.drv
INSTALLATION :
Create a subdirectory, copy and unzip the file IDIAGW.ZIP in
this directory. Start Windows and create a new program group.
Add IPX-Diagnostics for Windows to this group.
LIMITATIONS :
Only the screens for the installed components can be filled. That
means, if you select a node where NETX is not loaded, the screens
for the shell are empty.
Some screens are not filled, when the selected node is an 3.xx or
4.xx File-Server.
When you save a name and a location for a node, they will appear
in the node list after the next scan.
The unclicensed Version is reduced to show not more then 5(Five)
nodes in the node list.
